OXFORDSHIRE ARTWEEKS –  this year I will be at home in Jericho and will have on display original oil and watercolour paintings; limited edition prints of Oxford; and sculpted clay figures in the garden.  There will also be some clearance paintings and prints – with all proceeds going to charity.  So please feel free to drop in and have a browse!

I’ll be here from 1-6pm on Sat May 3rd, Sun 4th, Mon 5th, (1-5pm),  then Sat 10th & Sun 11th – or if these times are not suitable for you, please contact me to arrange a different time.

Artweeks site no 66 at 48 Cardigan St, Jericho, OX26BSopposite St Barnabas church where there are 20 exhibitors and refreshments!  https://www.artweeks.org/v/valerie-petts-oas

The wonderful commission to paint over 70 watercolours of  Worcester College, Oxford is now completed.  A book (modestly priced at £5!) titled ‘Worcester Wanderings’ with text by Dick Smethurst, features all of the paintings and is available in the college lodge.

And nowadays I’m also happily engaged playing with clay!  I’ve been attending the Phoenix studios for a day a week working from live models and have also been fortunate to have 6 sessions at the Drew School of Ceramics where I’ve been learning some hand-building and glazing techniques. It’s never too late to start new things because you never know where they will lead…

Publications

Illustrations for a number of books including: ‘Worcester Wanderings’ (see above);  ‘John Radcliffe and his Legacy to Oxford’ and 4 other books in this series by David Cranston FRCS;  ‘Consider England’ which is available from the Godstow Press or from the artist.    ‘Oxford Words and Watercolours’, (“The book captures the spirit of Oxford with elegance and accuracy” – Lord Jenkins)  is now out of print but is available from Amazon.    Also, although not strictly a publication – last year several of my long-standing ‘streetscapes’ of Oxford were hugely enlarged and made into wallpaper for public spaces in the new Wellford Gardens Order of St John care home in Wheatley.
